The Chablais Group started with just two directors, Paul and Agnieszka, It grew from importing quality lingerie made in Poland into the UK. Paul’s son-in-law started cycling and joined a local club. He found the kit badly-sized and poor quality. Having seen the quality of the lingerie imports, he asked Paul to help supply quality kit to his cycling club. The sportswear business, Chablais Sport thus started in 2009 as a cottage industry for friends and relatives - and has grown from there.
Agnieszka found factories to design and make the kit, which was an immediate success. With the strong support of the club chairman of Lex's club, and another Southern athletics club, a full range of stunning cycling and athletics kit was developed. Then Paul’s daughter overheard a conversation at her work about Dover Athletic FC’s kit supplier ceasing trading. Paul contacted the club chairman and he and Paul agreed that Chablais Sport would rescue them. In six weeks, a complete range of kit was created and delivered from scratch. It had its moments, but the club recognised that whenever we hit a problem, we overcame it. We were encouraged by members of the Kent FA to broaden the business away from just Dover.
Chablais supplied a small number of clubs. Demand for our products required developing a network of new suppliers to accommodate growth, to maintain our advantage of quality with speed of delivery. In 2013, we had sourced a network of new factories, with over-the-top back-up for each product. We have taken time to build the supply chain, the marketing strategy, and the geographical coverage into Europe. We are now fit and ready for growth, delivering stunning product at competitive prices within three weeks of order.
We have added a non-executive director, Derek Hine, and a Brand Development Director, Chris Emmel. These are high calibre people, whose background is described in About Us. With an imaginative team of experience and ability, we are now expanding across Europe, and are delivering our high quality products at club prices to an ever-increasing number of satisfied customers.
